When sites like Missionary Boys are at their best, they build up a slow tension reminiscent of Joe Gage‘s classic taboo films. It doesn’t always work. All of the performers involved need to be one-hundred percent committed to the scenario and their characters’ unique perversions. We need it laid out why these characters shouldn’t be doing what they’re doing and why they’re going to do it anyway.
President Oaks—also known as Elder Oaks, Damien Oaks, Master Oaks, Bill Farnsworth, and Father Oaks—is extremely good at building that tension. He has a naughty, magnetic charm that draws you in and makes you hang on every word he says.
Dylan Herring, his scene partner, compliments that energy with a feigned innocence. He comes off like the kind of young man who would be easily seduced by President Oaks’ charm, and not so surprisingly, that’s exactly what happens in this scene!
